Volunteer Certification

To volunteer in any capacity at St. Luke’s School you must first pass a Background Check and complete Safe Environment Training. This certification is good for three years. The process is NOT as intimidating or as time consuming as it may sound.

Background Check Information (BCI)

Before you can be considered for any volunteer opportunity at the school you must first pass a Background Check (BCI). This process is managed by the Attorney General of Rhode Island.

To apply you will need to complete an application and provide a current driver’s license. The application form will need to be notarized (we have notaries on the premises).

If you are from Massachusetts, you will also need to complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) form along with a disclaimer form.

All these forms are available in the office.

The application process usually takes only a couple of weeks.

Safe Environment Training

Once you have submitted your BCI application you can begin to review the Safe Environment Training materials.

All volunteers who have regular contact with children receive essential information pertaining to the awareness, prevention, and reporting of child abuse as part of their certification process. This initial educational requirement and BCI check last for three years.

Please review the PowerPoint and video and then sign off on the fact that you have completed both with our school Secretary, Marybeth Sullivan

Dear St. Luke's Community,

After 25 wonderful years, we share with you both gratitude and a bit of bittersweet news -

the Trot Off Your Turkey 5K and 1.5 Mile Race/Walk has officially come to a close.

What we began in 1999 as a simple way to bring our community together over Thanksgiving

weekend, grew into a beloved tradition that drew families, friends, and runners from near and

far.  Through every mile run, walked, and every chilly morning start, your participation and

generosity helped make this event truly special.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the St. Luke's community and the town of

Barrington for your unwavering support over the years.  Because of you, the Trot off Your Turkey

event raised vital funds that enriched the educational experience of students and teachers at

St. Luke's School, in meaningful and lasting ways.

Thanks to your contributions, we were able to offer countless field trips, enhance classroom

technology, improve buildings and grounds, and most importantly create fun, memorable

experiences for so many.

While the race itself may no longer continue, the impact it made will be felt for years to come.

We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished together, and are deeply grateful to the

countless volunteers, sponsors, participants, and organizers who made each year possible.

Thank you for being part of this tradition, and for making it one filled with community, generosity,

and joy!

With sincere gratitude,

Nicolas Varone, Father Tim Reilly and the Trot Off Your Turkey Committee
