Absolutely NOT! This is a commonly held misconception. As a matter of fact, about 18% of our student body is NOT Catholic but represents an interesting cross-section of belief systems which add to many conversations which take place at our school. All our families are seeking a faith-based education for their children.

You are treated no differently if you are not Catholic, but you will be expected to participate in school functions like all-school Masses, Lenten Services, all-school Rosary and prayer and Grace before all meals and snacks. All children are required to take Religion as part of the curriculum.

Yes. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 are required to wear school and gym uniforms. Our school uniform supplier is Tommy Hilfiger, and our gym uniforms can be purchased from Gob Shop in Warren. Preschool students are not required to wear a uniform.

No. Approximately 50% of our student body comes from Barrington. The balance of our students come from 15 surrounding communities.

Yes. Need-based financial aid for students in grades K-8 is available through the Diocese of Providence. Applications are available beginning in the fall but won’t be complete until you submit your taxes for the year. 

If you are a member of a Catholic parish that does not have a school, you should ask your Pastor for assistance. They are required to consider your request.

In any given year, about 60% of our graduates go to Catholic schools. We have NEVER had a student who was not accepted to their first choice of school.

Absolutely. We depend on our families to help in a variety of ways: Room Parents, Lunch Monitors, Field Trip Chaperones, Library Helpers and Classroom Readers to name a few. 

Yes. We even have some grandparents who want to get involved and volunteer. The only requirement to volunteer is to get a BCI (Background Criminal Investigation) check. This is a fairly simple process which takes about two weeks to complete, and we have all the necessary paperwork.

Yes. We have a vibrant and active PTO with a wide variety of committees and many opportunities to serve. Besides fundraising they are involved in enrichment, technology and service to name a few.

Tuition for Kindergarten to grade 8 is $6,975 for St. Luke’s parishioners and $7,670 for out of parish students.

Tuition for Preschool is varied depending on how many days the child attends. The range goes from $2,877 for 2 half days to $9,620 for 5 full days.

No. We offer several payment plans: one full payment or 2,4 or 10 equal monthly payments. Most families choose the 10-month plan which goes from July-April

Yes. We provide each student with their own Chromebook. It is theirs to use for the year. They are given an SLS email address, and the upper grades can take them home at night. All you do is pay a $55 technology insurance fee.

Yes. There is a registration fee ($230 for the 1st child, $180 for the 2nd and $80 for the 3rd) payable in March when you register for the next year. There is also an $85 Middle School Fee a $55 K-8 Technology Fee and a $260 Graduation Events Fee for 8th graders.

We are constantly looking for ways to make a St. Luke’s School education more affordable, but we do not offer a multi-child discount currently.

Yes. We pride ourselves on our school-wide dedication to helping others and have several service ministries. Our Middle School students are required to commit to a certain amount of service hours during the school year. In addition, we have a Junior Service Ministry, Young at Heart Club (works with eh elderly in the parish), Sandwich Club (makes bagged lunches for our food truck to deliver to those less fortunate) and Outreach which works with the Bristol Veterans Home and East Bay Collaborative.

Yes. We feel strongly about the importance of supplementing what is learned in books and in the classroom with enrichment opportunities outside of the classroom. The students age determines the extent and distance traveled for some Field Trips and many larger entities come to our school as well: Sturbridge Village, Plymouth Plantation, Coggeshall Farm, Four Town Farm, Barrington Community Farm, RI State House, Mystic Aquarium, Boston Museum of Science, Save the Bay, RI Supreme and Superior Courthouse, Trinity Rep, Providence Performing Arts Center, Diocese of Providence Chancery and Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.

Compass Program. 

This one-of-a-kind program was established at SLS 5 years ago to support classroom teachers in their effort to guide and teach every student. This more personalized instruction ensures that outstanding students remain challenged and that no student ‘falls through the cracks’ so that a Catholic education is available to a wider range of students.

Yes. Depending on the age of the child they will have Physical Education either once or twice a week. Depending on the weather it will take place either in our gymnasium or on our athletic field.

Yes. We field teams in Cross Country, Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball. Teams compete in CAL (Catholic Athletic League) and are composed of students in grades 4-8.

Yes. We offer a wide variety of clubs and activities that include Band, Chess, Coding, Robotics, the School Musical, Homework Club, Junior Service Ministry, Math Club, Sandwich Club, Student Council, Yearbook, and Cheerleading.  We are also a member of the Catholic Athletic League, offering competitive sports for grades 3-8 in Cross Country, Soccer and Basketball.

Our rigorous curriculum is designed to successfully prepare our students for high school and beyond. We are a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Certified school where students engage in their learning and have the opportunity to think critically through inquiry and exploration.

Yes. We have one all-school Mass per month. In addition, we make Reconciliation available at certain times during the year. Students in Grade 2 make their First Reconciliation and First Communion together.
